Project Narrative

Approximately 6,100 feed of Jack pole fence designed and certified by NRCS was installed along side Patterson/Big Springs Creek, the Pahsimerioi River and a small spring fed channel known as Mayrick Creek protecting approximately 3.82 miles. Installation of this fence has already improved the riparian habitat, reduced stream bank erosion and sediment transport and enhanced approximately 5 acres of wetland and we expect further improvement. Monitoring and evaluation will be an ongoing part of this project as part of the Custer Soil and Water Conservation District contract. The project will result in enhanced Snake River Chinook salmon migration in the lower Pahsimeroi River and Patterson/Big Springs Creek by increasing flow regimines and reestablishing habitat connectivity to unused stream reaches.
