Project Narrative
The Indian Creek Irrigation project consolidated and moved the point of diversion upstream into a screened, closed irrigation system for five water users on Indian Creek, tributary to the Salmon River. A flowmeter was installed to regulate the flow to their cumulative water rights of 0.47 cfs. Each water user was provided with one irrigation riser and were able to add additional risers at their own cost. Water users provided their own sprinkler systems. This project eliminated entrainment of listed fish species and the water used for irrigation can now be accurately measured. Pre-project, the water users had numerous points of diversion on an unscreened open ditch irrigation system. An extension was granted due to a delay in getting pipe for this project due to a limitation of supplies. The Indian Creek Irrigation Project benefits juvenile and adult salmonids through installation of a closed, screened irrigation system to eliminate entrainedment in the current ditch networks.
