Project Narrative
This project funded final engineering and design, cost estimating, and environmental compliance work for restoration work to provide juvenile salmon and steelhead rearing habitat within the footprint of a historic calving and feedlot area on Little Sawmill Creek and Indian Springs. This project provided designs to improve 0.3 miles of fish bearing stream and encompassed 5.8 acres. Indian Springs is a tributary to Little Sawmill Creek, which is a tributary to the Lemhi River. This watershed contains ESA-listed Chinook Salmon in the Lemhi River Population in the Salmon River MPG of the Snake River spring/summer Chinook Salmon ESU and ESA-listed steelhead in the Lemhi River Population in the Salmon River MPG of the Snake River steelhead DPS. The project received implementation funding through PCSRF project 009 17 SA and was implemented in fall 2018. The design produced from this project will provide plans to screen diversions to prevent entrainment of fish in ditches and will improve riparian habitat and instream diversity in a Priority 1 watershed as designated in the NMFS proposed recovery plan for restoration of ESA-listed Chinook Salmon and steelhead.
