Project Narrative
This project improved an existing irrigation system and installed 2 miles of buried pipeline for a landowner who previously used an open ditch to convey Hawley Creek (Salmon River subbasin) flow to the point of use. This work saves approximately 2.5 cfs in Hawley Creek for approximately 4.2 miles and protects approximately 1,811.11 acre-feet of water. This water conservation will remain in place for a minimum of 20 years, per an agreement between the Lemhi Soil and Water Conservation District and the landowner. The project did not change since the proposed description but the project sponsor realized 4.2 miles instead of 8.5 miles was a more accurate metric to not double-count the work of project 019 13 SA. One stream gauge was installed. Project LHaC02 will connect to a new point of diversion and fish screen that will be installed and funded through a separate project by IDFG and funded by BPA. This related project will open approximately 2.1 miles of upstream habitat for fish. The existing diversion structure at LHaC02 is a passage barrier at low flows and is unscreened.
